Seriously I am not a fan of Roald Dahl so it has been quite a while since I have either read the original story or even seen the movie adaptation. As a result there isn't much that I remember, which more or less may be a good thing for this particular review.
The story itself was changed into a play format and so much of the background as well other meat was taken from the story itself. As a result the reader is given much more creative licenses when it comes to actors taking on other roles alt..more

This is a really good children's book! My favourite character was the ladybird! Enjoy!
Actual I watched the play. It was a youth theater cast and they did a good job. Because of my hearing lose, the next day I checked the book out from the library.
James is a little English boy who had lived by the seaside with his beloved parents until they got eaten by an 'enormous angry rhino escaped from the London Zoo'.

This was my first introduction to Roald Dahl. It was short, so I thought I'd read it. I thought it was quite funny and loved the bugs! I thought it would be a terrific book for my class and for boys, especially. I was right, only they read the complete version, not the play. I rather liked the play because 1. it was short and 2. it was interesting to read a play for children.

We did a craft after we read the book. I painted a huge peach and all the bugs on a big piece of paper with James in it and then we watched the movie. - age 6
Not one of my favorite Dahl books, but my son enjoyed reading it to me..he thought the Centipede was quite amusing!

If that was true, surely my 70-odd hours in XCOM 2 would place me in good stead for the Firaxis-endorsed Long War 2? Surely.

There are more squaddies here than there were on deck for Central’s 55th birthday. Keen to see a good chunk of The Long War 2’s feature set, I auto-filled the squad before battle to find out just how many soldiers it’s possible to field. The answer, a quick school trip headcount reveals, is ten – although some missions allow 12.

Already the friendly firepower vastly exceeds anything the base game would have granted. With more bodies than I know what to do with, I send them fanning out wide – my melee and assault specialists up the centre towards an oblivious enemy patrol, my heavy weapons crew creeping to their left behind an Elder statue, and my rifle-wielding rookies up onto the roof of the hotel to the right – just beyond which the VIP stands with her cavalcade.

The manpower that felt so good at first can, it transpires, be a real liability in the concealment phase. I’ve got an extra set of people to hide from patrols, cameras and civilian grasses. And to make matters worse, there are armoured surveillance drones whizzing about. Thanks for that addition, Long War.

It’s hacker Molly Hill who steps on a red tile first. I’ve sent her to the rim of the hotel roof, above the lobby, to get a better look at our target. An ADVENT officer on the ground spots her at once, and a tangled network of nearby squads respond to his garbled yells. It’s tough to count the baddies as they run to find cover, but it’s clear we’re already outnumbered.

Molly immediately succumbs to sectoid mind control – a temporary reprieve for her, but one that tips the odds further in the enemy’s favour. Meanwhile, my assault team are sent sideways through a window into the hotel, where it’ll be more difficult for the ADVENT to bring their many weapons to bear.

From behind the statue, my Specialist emerges. A new class designed for Long War, she wields the Gauntlet – a dual-use flamethrower and rocket launcher. Alongside my Grenadier, she fires a salvo into the closest ADVENT squad, reducing the total number of nasties by four. But they’re swiftly replaced and then some by an incoming patrol from the north.

Eventually I count nearly 30 enemy soldiers and sectoids. On a ‘moderate’-rated mission, in the second month of the campaign. How has this happened?

I’ll later learn that Pavonis Interactive recommend you cherry-pick lightly defended missions rather than take on the majority. And that smaller squads yield faster infiltrations, whittling away at troop numbers still further – a self-balancing system I’ve utterly failed to engage with. To disastrous effect.

Poor Molly is dead – forced to hold still while the troopers shot holes in her. Half the civvies, meanwhile, bad enough when they were just yelling, have turned out to be Faceless in disguise – great big sentient blancmanges with claws. One of them gives my Grenadier a good thwacking, while another lollops after my close combat crew, squeezing his wobbly form in through the hotel window.

In those cramped quarters, I have my Ranger pull out her sawn-off shotgun – a new secondary weapon that can be fired just once with both barrels for massive damage. If it hits. Which it doesn’t. On the next tile, Gunner Angela Perkins produces her combat knife, another Long War addition – but it bounces off rubber skin like a kitchen utensil. So much for exploiting the new feature set.

With the enemy count so high, and Central warning of further waves, individual aliens seem to melt away. There’s only the tide, the objective, and the evac point – a set of squares off to the top-right of the map that look impossibly distant just now.

The long-range arc thrower I could have used to incapacitate the VIP went down with our Assault specialist. But killing the target will be nearly as good – and, let’s be honest, much more feasible given the fraught circumstances.

The buttress I’ve positioned Denis behind proves ample cover – keeping him alive while the rooftop rookies gurgle horribly. With most of ADVENT’s forces occupied there, only two overwatched troopers keep our young Russian from making line-of-sight with the VIP.

This is tactics, see? Cold and utilitarian, just like the base game. Although I must admit, the sense of sacrifice seems somewhat amplified in The Long War 2. Especially when you’re playing it this badly.

Gameplay

Like other Multiplayer online battle arena games such as League of Legends and Dota 2 the player and team take down the other team's base. Unlike other MOBAs, players cannot level up their skill or buy items. Instead players customize their characters via pre-made «backpacks» that give different stat bonuses. Matches can either be PVP or against AI. Matches end either when one team's base is destroyed or when time runs out. Upon time-out, the team with the most points wins.     DICE's PC version has been leaked to various torrent sites almost two weeks before release on October 28th, with console versions being safe for now, DSOGaming reports. This is perhaps unsurprising because most, if not all high profile games are leaked early one way or another. It looks like it might have possibly been done by a retailer - but why would they risk reducing sales of the product like this? Perhaps a disgruntled employee? We can only speculate. Apparently, the single player campaign is fully playable and the file size weighs in at around 10GB.
    The one thing that seems to hold true about such situations, as undesirable as they are, is that a game's success will be on its own merit, regardless of how much it has been downloaded illegally. No doubt though, however large the profits from this game turn out to be (and they're likely to be substantial for this triple A title) the publishers will complain that they would have been even bigger without piracy, but without being able to offer any actual proof of this, of course.     The seventh and penultimate season of the fantasydrama television series Game of Thrones premiered on HBO on July 16, 2017, and concluded on August 27, 2017.[1][2][3] Unlike previous seasons, which consisted of ten episodes each, the seventh season consisted of only seven episodes.[4] Like the previous season, it largely consisted of original content not found in George R. R. Martin's A Song of Ice and Fire series, while also incorporating material that Martin revealed to showrunners about the upcoming novels in the series.[5][better source needed] The series was adapted for television by David Benioff and D. B. Weiss.

    The penultimate season focuses primarily on the convergence of the show's main plotlines in preparation for the final season. Daenerys Targaryen arrives in Westeros with her army and three dragons and begins to wage war against the Lannisters while Jon Snow continues his efforts to find ways to defeat the Army of the Dead. He forges an alliance with Daenerys in an attempt to unite their forces against the White Walker army.

    HBO ordered the seventh season on April 21, 2016, three days before the premiere of the show's sixth season, and began filming on August 31, 2016. The season was filmed primarily in Northern Ireland, Spain, Croatia and Iceland.

    Game of Thrones features a large ensemble cast, including Peter Dinklage, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, Lena Headey, Emilia Clarke, and Kit Harington. The season introduces several new cast members, including Jim Broadbent and Tom Hopper.

    The series received 22 nominations for the 70th Primetime Emmy Awards,[6] and won for Outstanding Drama Series and Dinklage won for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series.[7]

      Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga[a] is a role-playing video game developed by AlphaDream and published by Nintendo for the Game Boy Advance in 2003. The game is the first in the Mario & Luigi RPG series. The game was later re-released for the Wii UVirtual Console on the Nintendo eShop in 2014, and remade for the Nintendo 3DS as Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga + Bowser's Minions in 2017.

      The setting of the game begins in the Mushroom Kingdom, but progresses to the Beanbean Kingdom for the majority of the game. In the game, Mario and Luigi combat Cackletta, the primary antagonist. The quest begins when Cackletta, with the aid of her assistant Fawful, steals Princess Peach's voice after adopting the guise of an ambassador from the Beanbean Kingdom.[1]

      A role-playing game, it centers on a battle system different from that of traditional games of the genre, with emphasis on timing and more elaborate attacks.[2] The game is whimsical in tone, with various in-game jokes and comical references to the heritage of the Mario series. Superstar Saga was critically acclaimed, and IGN named it the twelfth best Game Boy Advance game of all time in their feature reflecting on the Game Boy Advance's lifespan.[3]

      Gameplay[edit]

      Superstar Saga's battle system

      The gameplay of Mario & Luigi differs from most other role-playing games due its focus on controlling Mario and Luigi simultaneously. During overworld sections, the directional pad controls Mario's movement with Luigi following closely, while Mario and Luigi's other actions are controlled individually with the A (Mario) and B (Luigi) buttons respectively.[4] The game begins with them being able to jump independently, though they will soon gain access to hammers and a variety of other techniques as the game progresses. For example, Luigi's hammer can be used to squash Mario into a smaller size, allowing to access small gaps, while placing Mario on Luigi's shoulders allows them to act like a propeller and hover across large gaps.[5] Various enemies roam the overworld, and coming into contact with these enemies initiates a battle. Landing a hit on the enemy while on the overworld allows the player to deal pre-emptive damage, while the opposite is also possible.

      Battles in Superstar Saga are turn-based. Mario and Luigi can attack normally either by jumping, which can deal multiple hits but when used against enemies covered in flames or with spikes, Mario or Luigi will get hurt, instead of the enemy. Another attack option is the hammer, which is powerful, but ineffective against flying enemies. Similar to previous Mario RPG titles, such as Super Mario RPG and the Paper Mario series, players can time button presses to make their attacks more effective, such as earning an extra jump attack or increasing the hammer's power.[6] Introduced in this series is the way in which Mario and Luigi can defend themselves during an enemy's attack. When an enemy attacks, the brothers will be able to either jump or use their hammer which, when successfully timed, allows them to dodge their attacks and even deal counter damage (for example: if they jump on top of a charging Goomba). Throughout the game, players can unlock Bros. Attacks, which use Bros. Points (BP) which requires players to cooperate between Mario and Luigi's actions to perform powerful combination attacks.[2][7] Players can also use items such as mushrooms for healing, peppers for boosting stats and 1UP mushrooms for reviving fallen Bros. Defeating enemies earns experience points which help the Bros. level up and increase their stats, with players given the option to further increase the stats of one attribute every time they level up. Players can further improve their stats by equipping new gear to the Bros., or making them wear badges that give them special attributes.

      Like other Mario titles for the Game Boy Advance, Superstar Saga features the enhanced remake of the Mario Bros. arcade game, which was used in the 4 Super Mario Advance (series) titles.[8][9] The game also supports rumble functionality when used with the GameCube's Game Boy Player accessory.[4]

      Plot[edit]

      Unlike most games in the Mario series, this game is not set in the Mushroom Kingdom.[10] Instead, Superstar Saga introduces the Beanbean Kingdom, a neighboring monarchy to the Mushroom Kingdom. Despite this, traditional enemies such as Goombas are present, as well as new enemies exclusive to the game. The predominant race are the 'Beanish', although there are other species such as the 'Hoohooligans' and Yoshis. No locations featured in the Beanbean Kingdom, with the exception of Bowser's Castle, existed in any earlier Mario series games.

      The sad thing about this is that on Windows 7, the drivers for the Xbox One Controllers specifically are supposed to download automatically when the device is plugged in. Obviously, since the Device Manager cannot identify the device in the first place, it doesn't know what drivers it needs to automatically download.

      Unfortunately for all of us, the solution to manually download the drivers on the support website (http://support.xbox.com/en-US/xbox-on-windows/accessories/connect-xbox-one-controller-to-pc) is, at the time of writing, obsolete.

      The webpage instructs you to follow these instructions:

      1. Navigate to the Xbox One Controller results page on the MicrosoftUpdate Catalog
      2. Download the correct version of the driver for your operating system(64bit vs 32bit)
      3. Extract the contents of the .cab into a file directory.

      Instantly I wanted to do some dirty edits to the file to add the flags and lines required for it to be supported, however before I did something so absolutely and utterly stupid as to make manual edits to driver software without any knowledge whatsoever on the subject, I decided to take the device manager for a test run.

      Here's what I did:

      1. Load up Device Manager
      2. Find the unidentified device on the list (will have a yellow errortriangle)
      3. Click, 'update driver'
      4. Click, 'browse my computer for driver software'
      5. Click, 'let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer'
      6. Then Click, 'Have Disk', and instead of selecting a disk drive,click browse
      7. Find the IMF file that you downloaded from the Update Catalog,select it, and click Open.

      The device drivers should install correctly now, and you'll be able to play your nerdy games with no dirty edits to the file.
